Seychely jsou ostrovní stát v Indickém oceánu, 1500 km od pobřeží východní Afriky a severovýchodně od Madagaskaru.
Tvoří je souostroví 115 ostrovů, z nichž ten hlavní je Mávat na kterém se nachází hlavní město Victorie. Seychely jsou s pouhými 90 000 obyvateli jednou z nejméně obydlených afrických zemí a díky cestovnímu ruchu zažívá země rychlý ekonomický rozvoj. Zde je několik důvodů, které z nich dělají hlavní turistickou destinaci.
Pláže
Pláže na Seychelách patří k nejkrásnějším na světě. Superjemný bílý písek a křišťálově čistá voda ve všech možných odstínech modré jsou hlavními důvody jejich atraktivity. Nutno ale podotknout, že jsou většinou nedotčené a obklopené bujnou vegetací a palmami, které návštěvníkům poskytují stín a osvěžení. Ani ty nejoblíbenější pláže nejsou přeplněné a všechny, i ty před nejluxusnějšími hotely, jsou veřejné a vstup na ně je zdarma. Nejznámější pláže jsou Anse Source D’Argent (ostrov La Digue), Anse Lazio (ostrov Praslin), Grand Anse (La Digue), Beau Vallon a Anse Royale na Mahé.
Čas
Na Seychelách je mírná sezónnost klima je tropické. Teploty se liší od 24 do 30 stupňůa nejpříjemnější období je od května do listopadu, když foukají jihovýchodní větry. Turistické návštěvy jsou však možné po celý rok, protože obvykle přes den nikdy neprší.
Turistika
Na Seychelách vedou četné turistické stezky přes hory a panenskou džunglí. Na Mahe je jich několik různých stupňů obtížnosti a odměnou za námahu a fyzickou námahu při procházkách vám bude fantastický výhled, který se nabízí z mnoha vyhlídek podél cest.
Kreolská kuchyně
Je to nejznámější místní jídlo chobotnicové kari, a všechny pokrmy z ryb a mořských plodů, které dominují kuchyni Seychelské republiky, jsou vynikající kvality a čerstvosti. Sladkosti jsou většinou ovocné a kokosové, exotické a osvěžující. Kromě špičkových restaurací, jídlo je také výjimečné v pouličních stáncích a určitě byste to měli zkusit.
Flóra a fauna
Na Seychelách existuje několik fascinujících endemických druhů rostlin, z nichž nejzajímavější je Palma Coco de Mer, jehož ovoce je považováno za největší ořech na světě, a je vysoce ceněno, protože Seychely věří v jeho afrodiziakální vlastnosti. Uvidíte zde také vzácné druhy zvířat, z nichž jeden je obzvlášť zajímavý ohrožená obří želva Aldabrajedna z největších želv na světě.
Chráněný přírodní poklad
Dvě místa na Seychelách byla pro svou hodnotu zařazena na seznam světového dědictví UNESCO: Vallee de Mai na ostrově Praslin a Atol Aldabra. Vallee de Mai je nutností na seznamu seychelských atrakcí, protože je snadné se k němu dostat a mimo jiné zde uvidíte nejvíce palem Coco de Mer. Na druhou stranu, dostat se do Aldabry je mnohem obtížnější a jízda lodí je drahá. Přesto milovníky přírody potěší památky na ostrově a především ohrožené druhy zvířat, které zde lze spatřit.
Karneval
Karneval na Seychelách se koná teprve několik let, ale stal se známou turistickou atrakcí. Dříve se konala na jaře, ale nyní se koná konané v říjnuspolu s ročním Kreolský festival. Atmosféra je skutečný karneval, s účastníky z celého světa, a tématem akce jsou různé kulturní a historické vlivy, které jsou na Seychelách zastoupeny.
Rybolov
Díky bohaté fauně Indického oceánu a možnosti rybařit bez zvláštního povolení je tento druh rekreace mezi turisty velmi oblíbený. Rybářské lodě a jachty si můžete pronajmout samostatně nebo s místním instruktorem, který vám pomůže a poradí, a nejlepší místa pro rybolov a bohaté úlovky jsou ve vodách kolem ostrova Alphonse.
Potápění
Seychely jsou nedoceněnou potápěčskou destinací, s více prvotřídních míst dozvědět se o složitých korálových ekosystémech. Existuje také mnoho Seychelské programy na ochranu korálů do kterého se mohou zapojit i turisté. Některé hotely tedy například nabízejí svým hostům spolupráci s odborníky na „zasazení“ korálů na útesy a zachování tohoto mořského pokladu.
Ostrovní rum
Vyzkoušení vynikajícího domácího rumu a lahodných koktejlů z něj patří k turistickému zážitku na Seychelách. Je to povinné návštěva palírny Takamaka, s možností degustace. V rámci lihovaru je také nejlepší restaurace na ostrově Mahé. Seychely jsou také známé pro své místní Seybrew pivo, ale také zajímavé palmové víno.
